While we were in Oshawa for the
B4 Film Festival, Ali took me to nearby Bowmanville to visit the site of
Camp 30, an abandoned cluster of buildings that were once a
WWII POW camp. I was astounded that something like this still existed, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.
As you can see, this locale would be a fantastic place to shoot in. Walking through the crumbling interiors, I was reminded of
Marble Hornets and how the filmmakers must have felt when they discovered
“their” building. Logistically - or legally for that matter - it probably doesn't make sense to film there, but it was still pretty inspiring, walking around an environment that was both eerie and beautiful at the same time.
